FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Long Time Troy Attorney, David Beitzel, to run for City Law Director as an Independent

Local attorney, David Beitzel, will run for the post of Law Director for the City of Troy as an Independent.

“Although I originally planned to run as a Republican, after meeting with past and present elected officials, current and former city staff as well as dozens of citizens, I have concluded the position demands an independent perspective.” Beitzel said.

“The Law Director is the lawyer for the City of Troy and all the City officers. This is a  professional relationship. I am running to be the lawyer for the City. When choosing a lawyer all citizens seek the best qualifications, integrity, trust and the most experience.  My candidacy brings all of these.”

An attorney for more than 30 years, Beitzel stated: “I will bring fiscal responsibility and public accountability to the position. For more than 28 years one law firm has held the Law Director position taking all the associated legal work under the Law Director’s charge. It now hopes to keep control of it by running another of its members. It is time for a change for all the citizens of Troy, Republican, Democrats and Independents alike.  I am pleased to announce that I will be seeking the position of the City’s attorney as an Independent candidate.”

Beitzel has made his home in Troy continuously for more than 20 years. He has been a Board Member of the Family Abuse Shelter since 1995. In 2001-02 he was President of the Troy Optimist Club and continues to serve as a board member. In 1999 and 2000 he was President of the Troy Football Parents Association. He is currently on the Board of the Troy Civic Theater. From 1995 to 2001 he was an advisor to the Troy High School Mock Trial team.

Beitzel is also a member and former chair of the Miami County Bar Association’s Ethics & Grievance Committee, the Lawyers Assistance Committee, the Ohio State Bar Associations’ Lawyers Assistance Committee, the Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program, The Ohio Supreme Court’s Mentor Program, the Ohio Association for Justice and the Dayton Bar Association.  He has represented the City of Akron, City of Oakwood, City of Miamisburg, City of Centerville, City of Beavercreek, City of Huber Heights and City of Dayton.
